I worked on season three, four, and five of Star Trek: Lower Decks 🖖 at Titmouse's Los Angeles based Composite Retakes department. As a lifelong Trekkie, it was an incredible honour to contribute even a single pixel to the series!
The first pass of the episode was done by the Titmouse Vancouver team. As a member of the Retakes department, it was our job to take each episode over the finish line by addressing any notes from the directors and producers, and to ensure that every scene was delivered as polished as possible. This sometimes involved taking a fresh look at an existing scene and rebuilding VFX from the ground up. Occasionally we'd be required to create entirely new scenes inserted after the first cut of the episode, and we'd be responsible for their compositing and VFX.
If any scenes required animation changes, we'd export updated SWF animation from Adobe Animate and carefully replace it in After Effects. This took great care and precision as the animation was often tightly integrated with the VFX and compositing.
